Uber Eats adding Live Activities support to iPhone app, enabling Lock Screen and Dynamic Island order tracking
Uber is rolling out support for iOS 16 Live Activities to its iPhone app, allowing users to track orders on their device’s Lock Screen, as well as in the Dynamic Island on iPhone 14 Pro and iPhone 14 Pro Max.
With support for Live Activities, Uber Eats customers will see a live-updating notification on their iPhone with updates on their order progress, similar to how the main Uber app added Live Activities and Dynamic Island support earlier this year, so iPhone users running iOS 16 or later could track the live progress of a ride and receive updates like vehicle details, the latest ETA information, and trip status – all on the Lock Screen without opening the Uber app.
With the addition of Live Activities, the Uber Eats app will show the order status, ETA, driver’s name and photo, and restaurant’s image.
Launched with iOS 16 last year, Live Activities is a feature that helps users stay on top of things that are happening in real time, such as a sports game, workout, ride-share, or food delivery order, right from the Lock Screen.
The feature has slowly been added to popular apps including Flighty, CARROT Weather, Citymapper, and more.
