Twitter confirms it is working on an edit button
Twitter has announced that it has been working on an edit feature for tweets “since last year “that will give users the ability to tap a button to change the text in tweets after they have been posted, with the social network saying it will begin testing the new tool to paying Twitter Blue subscribers “in the coming months.”
Twitter users have long pined for an edit button, with the company’s newest and largest stakeholder Tesla CEO Elon Musk creating a poll on the platform yesterday asking whether an edit button should be introduced, with the poll racking up over 4 million votes, with 73 percent in favor of the introduction of an edit button.
Tweeting today, the @TwitterComms handle said “now that everyone is asking… yes, we’ve been working on an edit feature since last year! no, we didn’t get the idea from a poll…” sharing that it will begin testing the new tool within the coming months to its Twitter Blue subscribers.

Twitter hasn’t confirmed the specifics of the new tool, such as how long users will have to make an edit to a tweet, how edited tweets will be shown and if users will be notified if a tweet they interacted with has been edited. For now, we need to sit and wait to see what happens when the tool is rolled-out to Twitter Blue users.
Twitter Blue unlocks additional Twitter features such as the ability to bookmark and undo Tweets, color theme and app icon options, a reader mode, and more. The service first launched to users in Australia and Canada in June, followed by an expansion to the United States and New Zealand in November last year.
