Apple launches Apple Pay in Qatar
Apple has expanded Apple Pay to customers in Qatar, allowing those banking with QNB Group to use their iPhone, iPad, Apple Watch, and Mac to make payments using Apple’s mobile payment platform.
First reported by AppleInsider on Tuesday, QNB announced the rollout in a press release online, touting how customers will be able to use their device for in-store and online Apple Pay purchases starting today.
Celebrating the launch, Heba Al-Tamimi, General Manager of QNB Group’s Retail Banking, said: “We are proud for taking the initiative of bringing Apple Pay to the Qatari market. QNB has a reputation of providing its customers with state-of-the-art technologies. With Apple Pay payment services enabled to our customers, we commit to address their changing needs with the highest and most advanced levels of service.”
There’s no word on when other banks will adopt Apple Pay support, but with the initial launch out of the way, other banking firms in Qatar will likely follow suit and announce support for the service in the coming months.
