Reliable analyst says AirPods Pro 2 expected to launch in 2022
Reliable and respected TF International Securities analyst Ming-Chi Kuo has published a new note to investors reporting that he expects Apple’s next-generation AirPods Pro to launch in 2022, forecasting an overall decline in AirPods sales for the rest of the year.
According to Kuo, Apple’s next AirPods Pro will bring “innovative AirPods experience[s],” which could hint at earlier rumors of the earbuds introducing new health-monitoring features, such as a small accelerometer that could potentially determine body movement or something that could help a user monitor fitness while wearing their AirPods.
Kuo is downgrading his previous shipment forecast of 75 million units in 2021 to 70 million, citing a decline in consumer demand despite AirPods dominating the overall wireless earbud market.
Bloomberg reported earlier this year that Apple is readying new third-generation AirPods expected to launch before the year’s end, with updated AirPods Pro expected again in 2022, with the new Pro-buds supposedly being pushed back from their planned release originally slated for later this year.
