watchOS 6 confirms new Apple Watch models coming in titanium and ceramic cases
Leaked assets from Apple’s most recent watchOS 6 beta confirm two new Apple Watch models are on the way, featuring titanium and ceramic cases.
The discovery was made by Filipe Espósito of iHelpBR, who earlier this week uncovered assets within the most recent iOS 13 developer beta which suggest Apple will unveil its next-generation iPhone models, most likely alongside the newly discovered Apple Watch hardware, on Tuesday, September 10.
The leaked assets confirm Apple will offer the new titanium and ceramic Apple Watch models in 40mm and 44mm sizes as it does with the current-generation Apple Watch Series 4, but, it is unclear if the new models will be part of an Apple Watch Series 5 update, or if the new case finishes will be introduced as part of a minor update to the existing model.
The titanium casing option will be the first time Apple has ever used the material as a casing on the product category, with Apple most recently using titanium on the physical Apple Card which has recently started shipping to customers across the United States.
Ceramic casing was used on the Apple Watch Edition line when Apple unveiled the Series 2, offering it in a white color. The casing option was also available as part of the Apple Watch Series 3 line, which saw the introduction of a new gray ceramic colorway too. Apple – so far – hasn’t offered a ceramic casing option for the latest Apple Watch Series 4.
