Apple’s retro rainbow logo may return to products as soon as later this year
Apple’s retro rainbow logo could return to products as soon as later this year, according to a source supposedly familiar with Apple’s plans.
The news comes via MacRumors who cite a “well-connected tipster, who in turn cites a corporate Apple employee in Cupertino.” – Though throughout the story the site notes it can’t vouch for the accuracy of the claim, the report says the tipster supposedly has “longstanding connections to both Apple and related industries.”
In celebration of World Emoji Day on Wednesday, Apple crafted their rainbow logo out of colorful hearts and shared the creation on Twitter, further speculating the iconic rainbow logo may be making a return.

No mentioning of what products may feature the rainbow logo were shared, but the Mac would most likely be one, if not the only, product most well suited to this design, as the multicolored Apple logo was used on the original Macintosh in 1984 and on many other Apple computers before and after it.
Apple may release special edition iPhone models featuring the colorful logo, like it has done with limited edition (PRODUCT)RED handsets in previous years, starting with the iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus.
