This isn’t Memoji by Apple – this is ‘Mimoji’ by Xiamoi
Look familiar? This isn’t Memoji by Apple – this is ‘Mimoji’ by Xiamoi, a Chinese rival with a long running reputation for blatantly copying Apple’s hardware and software designs.
Today, the company has unveiled ‘Mimoji’, a blatant copy of Apple’s animated Memoji characters. Available on the Xiamoi CC9 smartphone, the company allows customers to create personalized emoji characters with various options such as hats, glasses, hair colors and skin tones.
Xiaomi’s phones go on sale in China starting July 5th for the regular CC9 model (July 9th for the CC9e).
Apple launched Memoji with iOS 12 last year after releasing Animoji in 2017 with the iPhone X. More recently, iOS 13 allows users to make various new Memoji personalizations including new makeup, hair, and facial features, plus the ability to add AirPods in the ears of characters.
