Evans Hankey to become Apple’s first female VP of Industrial Design
Evans Hankey will lead Apple’s Industrial Design devision later this year when Chief Design Officer, Jony Ive departs the company to open his own independent design practice, becoming the first female VP of Industrial Design at the company.
Hankey has been with Apple for many years, working alongside Jony Ive on products such as the iPhone and iMac, with more than 300 patents to her name.
The current role of Chief Design Officer, upheld by Jony Ive will be split between Hankey and Alan Dye who will be VP of Human Interface Design, both reporting to Apple’s Chief Operating Officer, Jeff Williams.

I have the utmost confidence in my designer colleagues at Apple, who remain my closest friends, and I look forward to working with them for many years to come.”, said Ive within an official statement shared by Apple.
