Apple said to be aiming to launch its new streaming service in April or May
Apple is said to be planning to release its new rumored Netflix-like streaming service in April or May, reports CNBC claiming some cable content providers are hesitant to participate and won’t be part of the service at launch.
Alongside original content produced by Apple, the new streaming service is said to provide pay-monthly access to a range of subscription-only TV services.
According to CNBC, HBO may not be participating in the new Apple TV streaming service due to a disagreements over data sharing and revenue splits, and it is highly unlikely Hulu and/or Netflix will be part of the service either.
Starz, Showtime, and Viacom are all expected to offer subscription streaming services through the new platform, with Apple reported taking a a 30 percent cut on every subscription that originates from its TV service, higher than the 15 percent cut that Apple takes when customers sign up for services like Netflix through the App Store.
