Apple removes iPhone 7 and iPhone 8 models from sale in Germany following court ordered sales ban
Apple has removed iPhone 7 and iPhone 8 models from sale in Germany following a court ruling in December as part of an ongoing legal battle between Apple and chipmaker Qualcomm.
The ruling by the judge presiding over the case, Matthias Zigann, blocks the import and sale of iPhone models which violate Qualcomm’s patents on technology called “envelope tracking,” a feature that helps preserve battery life on a device when sending and receiving wireless signals.
Apple confirmed shortly after the preliminary injunction was made last month that it shall be appealing the decision to block sales of the iPhone 7, iPhone 7 Plus, iPhone 8 and iPhone 8 Plus, saying the company will obey the ban on iPhone sales until its appeal is reviewed.
The preliminary injunction does not effect the sale of the iPhone XS, iPhone XS Max and iPhone XR.
