iOS 12 installed on 70% of devices, up 10 percent from October
Apple has released its official iOS 12 install figures, showing the software has now been installed on 70% of devices, up 10 percent in five weeks since the last set of adoption data was shared in October.
The data shows 72 percent of devices sold in the last four years are running iOS 12, and that iOS 12 is proving to be a lot more popular with users than iOS 11 that was installed on 59 percent of compatible devices as of December 4, 2017.
Although iOS 12 got off to a slow start, features such as Group FaceTime, Animoji, Siri Shortcuts and more are prompting users to upgrade to Apple’s latest software release. Another factor that will undoubtedly have helped iOS 12’s success is the extended compatibility with older Apple hardware.
Apple collects the data based on devices that connect to the App Store, and doesn’t include devices that download the latest software but never come online, or devices that aren’t connected to an Apple ID.
