Apple releasing iOS 12.1 on Tuesday with eSIM support according to carrier
Apple will be releasing iOS 12.1 on Tuesday with eSIM support according to mobile carrier Airtel India, allowing iPhone XS, iPhone XS Max and iPhone XR users to have two separate telephone numbers and data plans connected to their device; for example: one number for business and another number for personal calls.
In response to a question from a customer as to when eSIM will be available for iPhone XS Max on Twitter, Airtel India said “Please be informed that Esim functionality for iPhone XS Max will be available effective 30-Oct when Apple releases iOS 12.1”.
Alongside eSIM support iOS 12.1 will bring a handful of new features to iPhone and iPad, including 70 new emoji characters (as shown here), Group FaceTime calls for up to 32 people at a time, live Depth Control for iPhone XS, iPhone XS Max and iPhone XR which allows users to adjust bokeh blur of Portrait mode pictures, and much more.
Ahead of the release, Apple has shared an official Using Dual SIM with an eSIM support guide to Apple.com, explaining how users can use two phone numbers for calls, messages, and data, and specify which one they want to be used as their primary contact.
