HomePod ninth most popular smart speaker in the United States according to survey
According to a recent online survey from research firm Strategy Analytics who collected data from 1,001 smart speaker users in the United States between July and August, HomePod has been ranked as the ninth most popular smart speaker product in the country with an estimated four percent market share.
Strategy Analytics claim that while Apple doesn’t have a massive stake in the US smart speaker market, HomePod approximately accounts for 70 percent of the $200-plus smart speaker market, meaning when customers are looking for a smart speaker priced over $200, they will most likely turn to Apple.
Compaired to the competition, HomePod is still relatively new. Apple initially launched HomePod in February 2018, two to three years behind the likes of Amazon and Google. Although Apple doesn’t officially disclose HomePod sales data, recent data suggested the company has sold 3 million HomePod units since the speaker launched in the US alone.
