iPhone Duo delivery dates creep toward February as $5,000 eBay resales appear

iPhone Duo delivery estimates are now creeping toward February 2027 in the United States, just hours after pre-orders opened, as resellers begin listing Apple’s first foldable iPhone on eBay for thousands of dollars above retail price.
Apple’s online store is now showing an estimated January 25 delivery date across iPhone Duo configurations in the U.S., putting new orders within days of February and more than three months beyond the device’s October 23 launch.
The shortage is already spilling onto the resale market. MacRumors reports that an iPhone Duo has already been resold on eBay for as much as $5,000 after shipping estimates slipped into 2027.
The sold listing was for a night sky iPhone Duo with 2TB of storage. Apple sells that configuration for $3,199 in the United States, meaning the eBay buyer paid roughly $1,800 above Apple’s retail price to secure one of the earliest units.
The appearance of five-figure-looking resale listings is another sign of how quickly availability has tightened. Earlier today, launch-day iPhone Duo delivery disappeared less than 15 minutes after pre-orders opened, before estimates rapidly moved through November and December.
Within around half an hour, new iPhone Duo orders were already being pushed into 2027. The latest January 25 estimate means customers ordering directly from Apple are now looking at a wait of more than three months if those dates hold.
The delays do not necessarily mean every buyer will have to wait until late January. Apple can pull delivery dates forward as more stock becomes available, cancellations can release inventory, and some Apple Stores may still have limited iPhone Duo stock on launch day. Carrier and retailer inventory may also differ from Apple’s own online store.
For buyers determined to get one on October 23, our guide explains the best ways to try to get an iPhone Duo on launch day, including checking Apple Store pickup, carriers and other retailers rather than paying inflated resale prices.
The speed of the sellout has also renewed the question of whether the shortage is being driven by unusually strong demand, constrained supply, or a mixture of both. Our analysis suggests both factors are likely playing a role, with reported production constraints amplifying the effect of the launch-day rush.
Apple officially launches iPhone Duo on Friday, October 23. The device starts at $1,999 in the U.S. and £1,999 in the UK, with availability varying by country, configuration and retailer.
