iPhone Duo availability slips beyond December within minutes of pre-orders opening

Breaking News iPhone Duo availability is slipping rapidly just minutes after pre-orders opened, with delivery estimates moving beyond December for some configurations as demand collides with already tight launch supply.
Apple opened iPhone Duo pre-orders at 5 a.m. PT / 8 a.m. ET in the United States and 1 p.m. BST in the UK on Friday. The first orders were due to arrive on October 23, but availability began deteriorating almost immediately as customers rushed to secure Apple’s first foldable iPhone.
MacRumors reports that by around 5:20 a.m. PT, some iPhone Duo configurations on Apple’s U.S. online store were already showing delivery estimates as late as January 25. That means availability has not only slipped through November and December in some cases, but into the new year less than half an hour after orders opened.
The rapid shift comes after The Apple Post warned that iPhone Duo could be extremely difficult to buy at launch, with supply-chain reports pointing to lower initial production volumes and manufacturing challenges around the device’s foldable display and hinge.
Apple had also reportedly been concerned that those production issues could push the retail launch itself into late November. The company ultimately built enough inventory to keep the October 23 launch date, but the speed at which delivery estimates are now moving suggests early supply remains heavily constrained.
That is despite Apple reportedly increasing iPhone Duo orders before launch. Supply-chain reports said Apple raised iPhone Duo orders by 30% in the days before pre-orders opened, as the company prepared for stronger-than-expected interest in its first foldable model.
The deterioration in delivery dates follows a difficult start to the pre-order window for some customers. Apple’s online store was taken offline ahead of orders opening, and the storefront did not return at the scheduled time for some users, with reports of delayed access and ordering problems as the rush began.
Apple officially lists iPhone Duo from $1,999 in the United States and £1,999 in the UK, with 256GB, 512GB, 1TB and 2TB storage options in star white and night sky. Our full iPhone Duo pricing and release guide has the complete configuration details.
Delivery estimates can continue to change throughout the day as orders are processed, canceled or reallocated, and Apple Store pickup availability may offer another route for customers who miss the earliest delivery windows. For now, however, the direction is clear: the first wave of iPhone Duo stock is disappearing fast.
