iOS 27 brings one of the biggest collections of new iPhone features in years, but some of the most useful changes are easy to miss when you first install the update.
Apple’s headline addition is Siri AI, a completely rebuilt version of Siri powered by Apple Intelligence. On supported iPhones, Siri can use personal context from messages, emails, photos and other information, understand what is on screen, answer broader questions using information from the web and carry out more actions across apps.
There is also a dedicated Siri app, giving users somewhere to revisit previous conversations and start new ones, with conversation history privately synchronized through iCloud. As The Apple Post previously reported, Siri AI is one of the defining changes in iOS 27, although availability depends on device, language and region.
Adjust Liquid Glass
One of the first settings worth exploring is Apple’s new Liquid Glass transparency control. iOS 27 builds on the design introduced with iOS 26 and gives users more control over how clear or tinted the interface appears, alongside changes designed to improve readability and contrast.
It is a small adjustment, but it can make a noticeable difference across the Home Screen and other parts of iOS, particularly for anyone who found the original Liquid Glass appearance too transparent.
Try the smarter features in Photos and Safari
Apple Intelligence expands into more everyday apps. Photos gains Spatial Reframing, which can improve the composition of an image after it has been taken, while other new image-editing capabilities make Apple Intelligence more useful beyond Siri.
Safari can monitor webpages for changes through Notify Me, making it possible to keep track of things such as product restocks and price drops without repeatedly checking a page yourself.
Look for smarter suggestions in Messages
Messages can recognize useful context in conversations and offer one-tap suggestions, such as creating a reminder or note from something mentioned in a chat. It is the sort of feature that may prove more useful day to day than some of iOS 27’s bigger headline additions.
Explore the smaller quality-of-life changes
iOS 27 includes changes throughout the system, including Photos keywords and star ratings, customizable slideshows, smoother Camera performance, improvements to sending in Messages, Dual Capture in FaceTime, easier Apple Pay card switching and new recovery tools.
AirPods users also gain custom EQ controls, while Apple has added further customization options across the Lock Screen and system interface. Many of these smaller additions appeared throughout the iOS 27 beta cycle and are worth exploring once the update is installed.
Not every iOS 27 feature is available on every compatible iPhone. Siri AI and the latest Apple Intelligence capabilities require newer hardware, while Apple has also delayed some features beyond the initial iOS 27 release.
