How to watch and record HomeKit Secure Video in 4K in iOS 27

iOS 27 raises the ceiling for HomeKit Secure Video by adding support for 4K streaming and recording with compatible security cameras. Previous HomeKit Secure Video setups were limited to lower-resolution video.
The extra resolution can make fine details easier to see when viewing live video or reviewing a recording, but the camera itself must support the required resolution and HomeKit Secure Video.
You will also need the appropriate Apple Home setup and service plan for HomeKit Secure Video. A software update alone cannot turn a lower-resolution camera into a 4K model.
How to use 4K HomeKit Secure Video in iOS 27
- Make sure your HomeKit Secure Video camera supports 4K video.
- Update your iPhone to iOS 27 and install any available firmware update for the camera.
- Open the Home app.
- Select your camera and open its settings.
- Check the camera’s recording and streaming options and select the highest supported quality where an option is provided.
- Open the live camera feed or a recorded clip to view the footage.
If 4K is unavailable, check the camera manufacturer’s specifications, firmware and your HomeKit Secure Video configuration.
