iOS 27 can make splitting a restaurant bill easier by combining the iPhone camera, Apple Intelligence, Apple Wallet and Apple Cash. Instead of manually working out what everyone owes, the feature can use a receipt to help divide the total.
After scanning a supported receipt, you can assign items to different people and create payment requests. The calculation can account for the different parts of the bill rather than simply dividing the final total equally.
The feature uses Apple Cash, so it is only available where Apple Cash and the required Apple Intelligence features are supported.
How to split a bill with Apple Cash in iOS 27
- Open the Camera app and use Siri mode to scan the receipt.
- Point your iPhone clearly at the entire bill so the items can be recognized.
- Choose Split Bill with Apple Cash when the option appears.
- Review the detected items and assign them to the appropriate people.
- Check the calculated shares, including any applicable tax or tip.
- Select the option to request payment from the people who owe you, or pay your own share where applicable.
- Review the amounts before confirming the Apple Cash requests or payments.
Always check the receipt totals before sending requests, particularly when a bill includes shared items, discounts or unusual service charges.
