The Dinner Ladies used Apple devices to scale from 20 meals a week to 90,000

The Dinner Ladies, the online meal delivery company founded by Sophie Gilliatt and Katherine Westwood, says Apple technology played a major role in helping the business grow from a small kitchen operation into a large-scale food delivery service.
The comments were shared in an interview with Apple as part of the company’s Small Business Success Stories series, which highlights how businesses are using Apple products and services to grow.
Founded to provide nutritious frozen meals for busy families, The Dinner Ladies quickly expanded from producing around 20 meals a week to more than 90,000.
“As we grew, the biggest problem was communication around consistency and product quality,” said co-founder Katherine Westwood. “That’s where Apple technology supports our business — we couldn’t have scaled up without it.”
The company says Apple products have helped it manage operations more efficiently, particularly as demand increased during the pandemic.
The founders use Mac to manage recipes and plan menus, while iPad is used for employee scheduling and quality control. iPhone is also used to track deliveries and help coordinate operations remotely.
According to The Dinner Ladies, Apple devices make it easier for employees to communicate with vendors, share information across teams, and work with third-party apps and services.
The company also uses Apple products to monitor food storage temperatures, manage quality control checks, and optimize delivery routes.
“When technology just works — and we’ve found that to be the case with all of our Apple devices — it just makes us so much more efficient,” Westwood said.
The Dinner Ladies says Apple technology has helped streamline its operations and free up more time to focus on creating new meals and improving the customer experience.
