Airline to offer Apple Vision Pro to passengers for inflight movies and games
Beond, an upscale airline, has revealed plans to introduce Apple’s mixed-reality headset, Apple Vision Pro, for passengers on its flights. This initiative aims to elevate the inflight entertainment experience, providing access to a variety of spacial content, including movies and games. Additionally, passengers will be able to explore immersive, spatial renditions of resort destinations and activities in the Maldives through the headset.
In a press release shared by the airline, Beond’s Chairman and CEO, Tero Taskila, said: “The Apple Vision Pro will transform the inflight entertainment experience, and we will be first to offer it to select passengers. In addition to our existing and ever-growing library of inflight content such as movies and games, Beond will showcase stunning resort destinations and activities in the Maldives.”
“Offering the Apple Vision Pro is another step in our vision of delivering a premium travel experience to our customers, from the start to finish of their journey. We’re proud to be the first airline to deploy the technology,” said Taskila.
Apple Vision Pro was announced last year, made from a single piece of three-dimensionally shaped laminated glass with an aluminum alloy frame that contours to the user’s face, the device boasts an array of advanced cameras and sensors. These components collaborate to deliver an immersive mixed-reality experience, enhanced by speakers strategically positioned near the user’s ears to provide Spatial Audio, resulting in lifelike three-dimensional environments.
Apple Vision Pro is currently available only in the US.
