Apple Tap to Pay on iPhone support coming to PayPal and Venmo apps

PayPal has announced that support for Tap to Pay on iPhone – a feature that allows businesses to accept contactless payments using an iPhone without any additional hardware – will be coming to the PayPal and Venmo apps ‘soon’.
Apple announced its new “Tap to Pay on iPhone” feature in February. The feature theoretically turns the iPhone into a payment terminal, with businesses able to accept Apple Pay, contactless credit and debit cards, and other digital wallets through a simple tap of their iPhone.
Available only in the US, Tap to Pay on iPhone is now being used in Apple Store locations in the country, plus with merchants using Square and the Square Point of Sale iOS app.
Leveraging Apple’s Tap to Pay on iPhone technology, U.S. merchant customers will soon be able to accept contactless debit or credit cards and mobile wallets, including Apple Pay, using an iPhone and the PayPal or Venmo iOS app.
PayPal has also announced that beginning next year, U.S. customers will be able to add PayPal and Venmo network-branded credit and debit cards to Apple Wallet and use them anywhere Apple Pay is accepted.
