Next week’s Apple Event isn’t for the iPhone 12 – it’s for new Apple Watch and iPad models, claims Bloomberg
Apple today confirmed that it will host an event next Tuesday, which was believed to be for the iPhone 12 alongside the next-generation Apple Watch Series 6, redesigned iPad Air 4, and more, but a new insight from Bloomberg claims Apple won’t show new iPhone models next week, claiming Apple will host a separate event in October for the iPhone.
Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman shared the update today in a tweet. Gurman last week dismissed rumors from Jon Prosser that Apple would release new hardware today, instead, suggesting an Apple Event confirmation was more likely, which of course has turned out to be true.
BuzzFeed’s John Paczkowski has also suggested new iPhone models won’t be announced next week, sharing a tweet saying “Don’t hold your breath for the new iPhone.”
I am told Apple won’t announce the iPhone until October. This is for the iPad and Apple Watch in all likelihood. https://t.co/pw1oVXVoaL

Announcing new iPhones and Apple Watches separately would be unusual for Apple, but Apple themselves have confirmed that this year’s iPhone lineup will arrive later than usual, giving Gurman and Paczkowski’s comments extra noteworthiness.
