Apple to release new AirPods Pro in second half of 2021, says DigiTimes
Apple is reportedly preparing its next-generation AirPods Pro to launch in the second half of 2021, according to a report from DigiTimes, via MacRumors.
Sources cited by DigiTimes claim the new earbuds would be produced in part by supplier Inventec Appliances in Vietnam, alongside current generation AirPods Pro manufacturers Luxshare and GoerTek.
The report follows after a flurry of rumors about Apple’s future AirPods line. Some have suggested that Apple will release new entry-level “AirPods 3” in 2021, with the second-generation AirPods Pro not arriving until 2022.
It is believed that the new AirPods Pro could feature light sensors, which could be used for health monitoring features that could allow fir the earbuds to monitor heart rate, step counts, and health conditions, as well as detect head movements.
