Tim Cook and Deirdre O’Brien open flagship Carnegie Library Apple Store in Washington, D.C.
Apple has officially opened its flagship Carnegie Library retail store, with CEO Tim Cook and newly appointed head of retail Deirdre O’Brien welcoming customers to the newly refurbished location, unveiling a complete overhaul to the building that restores the 63,000-square-foot space back to its “original grandeur”.
Hundreds of visitors waited in-line for hours ahead of the doors opening at 10:00am on Saturday, with D.C. Mayor Muriel Bowser greeting customers as they stopped for selfies with the Apple team.
The first wave of customers visiting the store were given special Apple tote bags containing a poster listing the full lineup for the StoryMakers Festival, a new set of Today at Apple sessions run by 40 creators, teaching attendees how to express their stories with photos, music, video, art, and design.
