Apple’s new iPad mini can use an external display as an extended workspace when running iPadOS 27.2, bringing a more desktop-like multitasking option to the compact tablet.
Extended display mode lets users move and work with windowed apps across the iPad mini and a connected external display rather than simply mirroring the same content on both screens.
The feature builds on iPadOS 27’s freely resizable windows, window tiling, and Exposé-style multitasking tools.
Apple specifically lists extended display support as an iPadOS 27.2 capability for the new model, making it one of the productivity upgrades enabled alongside the new A20 Pro hardware.
The feature arrives on the all-new iPad mini, which also introduces an 8.5-inch OLED display and a significantly faster processor.
Apple confirmed the external-display capability in its iPad mini announcement.
