AirPods Pro Hearing Test launches in Canada, with Hearing Aid feature available in five provinces

Apple has launched its Hearing Test feature for AirPods Pro users across Canada, with the clinical-grade Hearing Aid feature also becoming available in five provinces.

Starting today, Canadians using AirPods Pro 2 or AirPods Pro 3 can take Apple’s scientifically validated Hearing Test using a compatible iPhone or iPad running iOS 27.2 or iPadOS 27.2 or later. The test takes about five minutes and produces a hearing-level result for each ear, along with a classification, recommendations, and an audiogram stored in the Health app.

The Hearing Aid feature is also now available in Alberta, British Columbia, New Brunswick, Prince Edward Island, and Saskatchewan, where over-the-counter hearing aid distribution is permitted. Apple says it is working with other provinces to expand availability.

Apple’s Hearing Aid feature uses the personalized profile created by the Hearing Test to make real-time adjustments for people with perceived mild to moderate hearing loss. That profile can also be applied automatically to music, movies, games, and phone calls across supported devices.

The rollout follows Canadian regulatory approval for Apple’s AirPods Pro hearing features in late 2024, which at the time indicated that a wider Canadian launch could follow.

Apple says both the Hearing Test and Hearing Aid features are intended for users aged 18 and older. The Hearing Aid feature is designed for people with perceived mild to moderate hearing loss and is not intended to diagnose a medical condition.

The company announced the Canadian expansion in an Apple Newsroom update.
