Apple has given the 512GB version of its new iPad mini an extra performance advantage, with that configuration specifically featuring a Dual 16-core Neural Engine.
According to Apple, the 32-core setup offers double the processing power of the previous generation and is designed to accelerate more advanced on-device AI workloads.
The company highlights apps such as Draw Things and Detail as examples of software that can make use of the additional processing capability.
Apple does not describe the 128GB and 256GB configurations as having the same Dual 16-core Neural Engine, making the 512GB model notable for buyers focused on heavier AI workloads.
The distinction sits alongside the broader performance gains from A20 Pro, which Apple says delivers up to 4.5x faster AI performance, up to 2.7x faster graphics, and up to 60 percent faster multithreaded CPU performance.
The 512GB configuration forms part of the all-new iPad mini lineup announced today.
Apple disclosed the Neural Engine difference in its official iPad mini announcement.
