Apple bringing Reachability to iPhone Duo later this year

Apple plans to bring Reachability to iPhone Duo in a software update later this year, adding another familiar iPhone feature to the company’s first foldable after launch.

WIRED reports that Apple will add Reachability to iPhone Duo later this year, giving users with smaller hands an easier way to access parts of the interface that are otherwise difficult to reach.

Reachability is already available on other iPhone models and works by temporarily moving interface elements closer to the bottom of the display. On iPhone Duo, WIRED says the feature will help users more easily reach the left or right edges of the screen with a tap.

Apple has not yet confirmed exactly which software update will introduce Reachability to iPhone Duo, and it is not clear whether the feature will work in the same way on both the 5.4-inch outer display and the much larger 7.6-inch inner display.

The addition could be particularly useful when iPhone Duo is unfolded. The inner display gives users substantially more screen space than a conventional iPhone, while Apple has also introduced new multitasking features designed specifically around the foldable format.

iPhone Duo can run two apps side by side on its inner display, and Apple says iOS 27 has been adapted for the different ways the device can be used while open or closed.

The software is still evolving ahead of and beyond launch. iPhone Duo ships with iOS 27.1, while third-party developers are also continuing to update their apps to better support the new display sizes and layouts.

iPhone Duo officially launches on October 23, starting at $1,999 in the United States and £1,999 in the UK. Apple unveiled iPhone Duo in September as its first foldable iPhone, combining a compact outer screen with the largest display Apple has ever used on an iPhone.
