Apple’s October 28 “Pro and tell” event is expected to be dominated by new Macs, but the iPad mini could quietly become one of the most important announcements of the day.
The next iPad mini is widely expected to move to an OLED display, giving Apple’s smallest tablet a major screen upgrade after years of using LCD technology.
Apple has confirmed its October 28 “Pro and tell” event, with current reporting pointing to a redesigned iPad mini alongside touchscreen MacBook Pro models and new M6 Macs.
The new iPad mini is also expected to use Apple’s A20 Pro chip, bringing a significant performance upgrade while keeping the compact form factor that has defined the lineup.
Other reported changes include a landscape-oriented front camera, redesigned speakers and improved water resistance. The Apple Post previously reported on the expected camera and speaker changes, which could make the next iPad mini more practical for video calls and everyday use.
Pricing may also move higher. Bloomberg has reported that the OLED iPad mini could start at around $799, which would put it much closer to iPad Pro territory than previous generations.
The Apple Post recently rounded up everything currently expected from the next iPad mini, and October 28 now looks like the clearest opportunity yet for Apple to make the device official.
Apple has not confirmed the iPad mini itself, so the final specifications, price and release date remain unannounced. If the reports are accurate, however, the OLED upgrade could make this one of the biggest iPad mini revisions in years.
