Apple’s October 28 “Pro and tell” event is shaping up to be one of the company’s biggest Mac and iPad launches in years, with several major products now expected to arrive together.
Apple has confirmed the October 28 event, which begins at 10 a.m. PT and follows the company’s “Welcome home” smart home announcements earlier this month.
The headline product is expected to be Apple’s first touchscreen MacBook Pro. The redesigned high-end models are reportedly moving to OLED displays, gaining direct touch support and becoming lighter, while also adopting a Dynamic Island-style display cutout in place of the current notch.
Recent reporting suggests the touchscreen MacBook Pro could reach customers on November 6, shortly after the October 28 unveiling.
Apple is also expected to introduce a separate 14-inch MacBook Pro powered by the standard M6 chip. Unlike the redesigned touchscreen models, that machine is expected to retain the current MacBook Pro design while moving to Apple’s newest silicon.
An M6 iMac is also widely expected. The Apple Post previously reported that the iMac could receive an M6 upgrade alongside refreshed color options, with no major chassis redesign currently anticipated.
The iPad mini could receive one of its biggest updates in years. The next model is reportedly moving to OLED, using the A20 Pro chip and gaining a landscape-oriented front camera, redesigned speakers and improved water resistance. Our recent iPad mini roundup covers the changes currently expected.
Apple has already invited selected media to Los Angeles for an all-day product launch experience on October 28. Those invitations had already pointed to touchscreen MacBooks, iPad mini and M6 Macs before Apple publicly teased “Pro and tell.”
Not every rumored product is guaranteed to appear, and Apple has not publicly confirmed the full lineup. Even so, current reporting points to a concentrated Mac and iPad launch led by the touchscreen MacBook Pro.
