Some iPhone Duo orders are suddenly arriving months earlier than expected

Some iPhone Duo customers who were told they could be waiting until December are now seeing dramatically earlier delivery dates, with at least one order reportedly moved all the way forward to launch day.
9to5Mac reports that a number of iPhone Duo orders in Japan have had their estimated delivery dates brought forward since pre-orders opened, in some cases by several weeks.
One customer who had originally been given a December delivery estimate now reportedly has an October 23 arrival date — the same day iPhone Duo officially launches.
Several similar reports have appeared from customers in Japan, although it is not yet clear whether Apple is beginning to improve delivery estimates more broadly in other countries.
The changes are particularly notable because iPhone Duo availability deteriorated at extraordinary speed when pre-orders opened. The Apple Post reported that new U.S. orders had slipped into 2027 within around 30 minutes, while delivery estimates later settled at late January across every U.S. configuration.
Apple has already described iPhone Duo pre-order demand as extraordinary and said it is working to get devices into customers’ hands as quickly as possible. Apple’s response came after shipping estimates moved months beyond the October 23 release date.
The earlier dates could indicate Apple is reallocating inventory, processing cancellations or simply replacing conservative initial estimates as more launch stock becomes available. Apple has not explained the changes, however, and there is no guarantee that customers in other markets will see their delivery dates improve.
There is also a chance some of the updated estimates could change again before shipment. For now, the reports offer at least some encouragement for customers staring at lengthy waits for Apple’s first foldable iPhone.
Anyone with an iPhone Duo on order may therefore want to keep checking the Apple Store app or their online order status, as a delivery date originally showing November, December or even later could potentially move forward as Apple works through its backlog.
