iPad could get significantly thinner bezels in future redesign

Apple could be preparing to give the iPad noticeably thinner bezels around its display, potentially bringing a more modern look to a future generation of the tablet.
The claim comes from leaker Instant Digital on Weibo, who says the iPad is set to gain significantly narrower borders around the screen. The report does not identify a particular model or provide a launch timeframe, leaving open whether the change is intended for the entry-level iPad or Apple’s wider tablet lineup.
The change would continue Apple’s gradual move toward maximizing display area while reducing the borders around its devices. Current iPad models already use an all-screen design without a Home button, but bezel thickness varies across the lineup.
Several iPad updates are already in development. The next iPad mini has separately been rumored to adopt an OLED display with slimmer bezels, while the iPad Air is expected to transition to OLED in 2027.
The entry-level iPad is also expected to receive another update, although previous reporting has suggested its overall design will remain largely familiar. That makes it unclear whether the latest bezel claim applies to that model or a longer-term redesign.
Apple has steadily reduced bezels across products including iPhone and iPad Pro, allowing larger displays to fit into similarly sized enclosures. A similar change on lower-cost iPads could make the entire lineup appear more consistent.
Until more details emerge, the exact iPad model and timing remain unknown.
