Apple confirms iPhone Duo pre-order process will begin October 12

Apple will let customers begin preparing their iPhone Duo pre-order from Monday, October 12, four days before pre-orders officially open.

The early process will allow customers planning to buy Apple’s first foldable iPhone to make their key purchasing decisions in advance, potentially making checkout considerably faster when pre-orders go live.

Apple has confirmed that its “Get Ready” pre-order process for iPhone Duo will begin October 12 through the Apple Store app and Apple’s online store.

Customers will be able to select their preferred iPhone Duo configuration ahead of time, including color, storage capacity, carrier and payment options.

Completing those steps doesn’t place an iPhone Duo pre-order. Instead, the configuration can be saved so customers have fewer decisions and forms to complete when ordering officially begins.

That could be particularly useful for customers hoping to secure an iPhone Duo as soon as possible.

Pre-orders officially open at 5 a.m. Pacific Time on Friday, October 16. In the United Kingdom, Apple confirms pre-orders will open at 1 p.m.

Apple hasn’t said how much iPhone Duo inventory will be available at launch, although recent supply-chain reports suggest production of the device has been challenging.

Finished-device production yields at Foxconn were reportedly only slightly above 60% earlier this month, with suppliers also said to have encountered difficulties producing some components.

Apple is reportedly targeting global iPhone Duo inventory of between six million and eight million units during 2026.

With the device expected to attract significant attention as Apple’s first foldable iPhone, preparing an order in advance could reduce the amount of time needed to complete checkout when pre-orders begin.

Customers using Apple’s Get Ready process should still return to the Apple Store app or Apple’s website when pre-orders officially open on October 16 to complete their purchase.

iPhone Duo is available in Star White and Night Sky and comes with 256GB, 512GB, 1TB or 2TB of storage.

The device starts at $1,999 in the United States. In the United Kingdom, pricing starts at £1,999 for 256GB, rising to £2,199 for 512GB, £2,599 for 1TB and £3,199 for 2TB.

Apple unveiled the iPhone Duo earlier this month, introducing a foldable design with an outer display and a larger inner display that becomes available when the device is opened.

Following pre-orders on October 16, iPhone Duo will officially launch in more than 70 countries and regions, including the United States and United Kingdom, on Friday, October 23.

A further 28 countries and regions will receive the iPhone Duo beginning October 30.
