Finding one moment in days of security-camera footage can be time-consuming. iOS 27 adds Apple Intelligence-powered search to HomeKit Secure Video, allowing supported setups to find clips based on what happened in them.
Instead of manually opening recordings one by one, you can search for the kind of event you are looking for, such as a package delivery, and let the Home app surface relevant footage.
The feature requires compatible HomeKit Secure Video equipment and eligible Apple services, and some Apple Intelligence Home features may require an appropriate iCloud+ plan.
How to search camera clips in the Home app on iOS 27
- Open the Home app.
- Select the HomeKit Secure Video camera you want to review.
- Open the camera’s recorded activity or search interface.
- Tap the search field.
- Describe the event you want to find using natural language, such as a delivery or a person arriving.
- Review the clips returned by the Home app.
- Tap a result to watch the corresponding recording.
The more clearly you describe the event, the easier it is for the Home app to narrow down potentially relevant footage.
