Apple is reportedly planning to launch a new Apple TV this fall, with the long-awaited hardware update finally moving forward now that the company’s new Siri AI experience is ready.
According to Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman, Apple has been trying to introduce an updated Apple TV since 2024 but held the product back because it was designed to take advantage of the company’s next-generation Siri assistant. Delays to Siri consequently pushed back the set-top box as well.
Gurman now expects the refreshed Apple TV to arrive this fall with Siri AI support and a faster chip, potentially bringing an end to a four-year wait for new Apple TV hardware.
The report adds to mounting evidence that an Apple TV refresh is close. The Apple Post recently reported that references to an unreleased Siri Remote had appeared in Apple software, suggesting the controller could also receive an update alongside the new box.
The current Apple TV 4K was introduced in 2022 and uses the A15 Bionic chip. Its successor has repeatedly been linked to a considerably newer processor, which would provide the performance needed for Apple’s latest intelligence features and give the aging streaming box a substantial speed upgrade.
Apple’s new Siri AI experience is arriving as part of the company’s latest operating-system generation, adding personal context, greater awareness of onscreen information and more capable conversational interactions. The Apple TV update is expected to use those improvements to make Siri a more central part of navigating and controlling the television experience.
The new hardware was notably absent from Apple’s September event. Apple TV was among the major products The Apple Post highlighted after the event as still expected later in 2026, alongside products including a next-generation HomePod mini.
Gurman’s latest comments suggest the delay was not simply the result of Apple leaving the product lower on its priority list. Instead, the new box appears to have been directly tied to Siri AI, meaning Apple had little reason to release the hardware before one of its defining features was available.
No precise launch date or pricing has been reported. Apple could introduce the device through another event or a Newsroom announcement later this fall.
