Apple has announced that iPadOS 27 will be released on Monday, September 14, confirming when iPad users will be able to download the company’s next major software update.
iPadOS 27 will be available as a free software update for compatible iPad models following several months of developer and public beta testing.
Apple unveiled iPadOS 27 at WWDC26 in June alongside iOS 27, macOS 27, watchOS 27, tvOS 27, and visionOS 27, with The Apple Post detailing everything new coming to iPad with iPadOS 27.

The update introduces Siri AI and Apple’s latest Apple Intelligence features alongside a number of productivity improvements designed specifically for iPad.
Siri AI can hold more natural conversations, understand personal context, answer questions using information from the web, and perform actions across apps. Apple is also bringing a dedicated Siri app to iPad, with conversations synchronized across supported Apple devices.
Visual Intelligence is being expanded on iPad, allowing users to take a screenshot or select something on the screen using their finger or Apple Pencil before asking Siri questions or searching for related information.
Apple has detailed the next generation of Apple Intelligence and Siri AI coming across iPhone, iPad, Mac, Apple Watch, and Apple Vision Pro.
Notes gains deeper Apple Intelligence integration, while Safari can automatically organize tabs and monitor webpages for changes including product restocks and price drops.
Other improvements include new Photos editing capabilities, upgrades to Image Playground, contextual suggestions in Messages and Mail, Describe a Shortcut in the Shortcuts app, enhanced parental controls, and refinements to Apple’s Liquid Glass interface.
Apple began testing iPadOS 27 with developers immediately following WWDC26 before making the software available through the Apple Beta Software Program. The first public beta arrived alongside iOS 27 and Apple’s other upcoming software updates in July. Testing has continued throughout the summer.
iPadOS 27 will be available to download on Monday, September 14.
Once released, compatible iPad users will be able to install iPadOS 27 by opening Settings and navigating to General > Software Update.
