iPhone Ultra could steal the show at Apple’s September event: Here’s everything expected

Apple’s first foldable iPhone is expected to become the headline announcement at the company’s September 9 special event, potentially giving the iPhone lineup its biggest shake-up in years.

The device has widely been referred to as iPhone Ultra in reports and is expected to use a book-style folding design, with a compact outer display for everyday use and a much larger screen inside.

The Apple Post recently published a full recap of everything expected from the iPhone Ultra, including its rumored displays, A20 Pro chip, C2 modem and price of more than $2,000.

Recent reports continue to point to an outer display of around 5.5 inches and an internal screen measuring roughly 7.8 inches. When opened, the wider aspect ratio is expected to give the device a more iPad-like feel than many existing foldable smartphones.

Apple is believed to have spent considerable effort reducing the visible crease in the folding display. The hinge is expected to be one of the most advanced components in the device, helping Apple achieve an unusually thin profile while maintaining durability.

Touch ID is expected to return in a new role, with reports suggesting Apple will integrate the fingerprint sensor into the side button rather than using Face ID. That could free valuable internal space inside the thin folding body.

The camera system may also differ from Apple’s Pro models. Current rumors point to two rear cameras rather than a triple-lens system, alongside front-facing cameras for use whether the device is open or closed.

As reported by AppleInsider, recent dummy units produced for case manufacturers have offered another look at the expected proportions and layout, although such units reveal little about the internal hardware.

Apple’s new 2nm A20 Pro chip is expected to power the device, while iOS 27 is believed to include interfaces designed specifically for moving between the external and internal displays. Side-by-side apps and more flexible multitasking are among the features expected to make use of the larger screen.

MagSafe is also expected to be supported despite the thin design. The Apple Post previously reported that Apple is believed to have retained MagSafe support, allowing the foldable model to work with existing magnetic chargers and accessories.

Price remains one of the biggest questions. Reports have consistently pointed to a starting price above $2,000, while higher-storage configurations could push significantly beyond that figure.

Availability may also be tight at launch. The Apple Post recently reported that early production may be limited, raising the possibility of shortages if demand is strong.
