AirTag firmware update includes updated tracking sound

Apple has released a new firmware update for AirTag 2, introducing an updated tracking sound designed to make unwanted AirTags easier to find.
According to Apple’s release notes, AirTag firmware version 3.0.45 includes bug fixes, other improvements, and an updated unwanted tracking sound that helps users more easily locate an unknown AirTag during Precision Finding.
The change appears to be aimed at improving safety features around AirTag, particularly in situations where an unknown tracker may be traveling with someone without their knowledge. By making the sound easier to hear and identify, Apple is making it simpler for users to locate and disable an unwanted AirTag.
AirTag 2 launched earlier this year with several upgrades over the original model, including improved Precision Finding range, a more secure speaker design, longer battery life, and better anti-stalking protections. The updated tracker also uses Apple’s second-generation Ultra Wideband chip for more accurate location tracking.
Apple rolls out AirTag firmware updates automatically, meaning users do not need to manually install the new software.
