iOS 27 to deliver ‘major updates’ to Apple Intelligence, report claims
Apple is planning “major updates” to its Apple Intelligence features with next year’s iOS 27, according to Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman — signalling that the company’s AI push is set to accelerate beyond the revamped Siri expected to debut in iOS 26.4.
Gurman suggests that Apple is preparing a significantly expanded set of capabilities for 2026, building on the redesigned Siri architecture arriving in the spring. That update — powered in part by Google’s Gemini models running on Apple’s Private Cloud Compute servers — will introduce a new query planner, a knowledge search system, and advanced summarisation tools.
The suggestion that iOS 27 will deliver “major updates” implies Apple is already planning a second wave of enhancements that go further than the Siri overhaul, which will allegedly rely on Google’s technology to handle more complex requests and answer general knowledge questions more naturally.
Apple is expected to continue presenting all new features as its own, with Gemini’s involvement remaining behind the scenes.
