AirDrop rumored to gain new 30-day sharing option, code suggests

Apple could soon expand AirDrop’s sharing options to include a 30-day connection window, according to code references found in iOS 26.2 beta 1.
The discovery, spotted by 9to5Mac, suggests Apple is developing a new option alongside the existing choices — Receiving Off, Contacts Only, and Everyone for 10 Minutes.
The new setting appears to allow users to keep two devices discoverable to each other in AirDrop for up to 30 days, by linking them through a PIN-based pairing system. Once paired, the devices would remain visible for AirDrop transfers without needing to re-enable visibility each time.
If introduced, the feature could make it easier to share files between personal devices or within teams without repeatedly adjusting AirDrop’s privacy settings.
