New MacBook priced “well under $1,000” rumored to launch next year

Apple is reportedly preparing to launch a new low-cost MacBook next year, priced “well under $1,000,” according to Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman.
The upcoming device is said to be aimed at students, businesses, and casual users, targeting those who primarily browse the web, work on documents, or do light media editing. It is also expected to appeal to potential iPad buyers who prefer a traditional laptop experience.
Analyst Ming-Chi Kuo previously reported that the model will feature a 13-inch display and use an A-series iPhone processor instead of a Mac chip — specifically, the A18 Pro, first introduced with the iPhone 16 Pro.
According to Kuo, Apple is also exploring a range of bright colour options, echoing the iMac lineup, with potential finishes including Silver, Blue, Pink, and Yellow.
The new MacBook would mark Apple’s most affordable laptop to date, competing directly with budget Windows PCs and Chromebooks.
