Apple working on redesigned Mac mini, reportedly about the size of an Apple TV

Apple is gearing up to release new versions of the Mac mini, featuring a complete redesign and powered by the latest M4 and M4 Pro chips, as reported by Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman.

As noted by MacRumors, the upcoming Mac mini models represent the first major overhaul in design since 2010, with Apple aiming to create its smallest desktop computer to date. The new design is expected to shrink the Mac mini to a size comparable to an Apple TV, though it may be slightly taller than the current 1.4-inch model. Despite these changes, the Mac mini will continue to sport an aluminum casing. Sources close to the project have likened the new device to “an iPad Pro in a compact enclosure.”

Apple is said to be experimenting with configurations that include at least three USB-C ports, along with space for a power connector and an HDMI port.

The redesigned Mac mini will come in two versions: one featuring the standard M4 chip and another equipped with the M4 Pro chip. Production for the base model is expected to begin this month, with a launch anticipated later in the year, while the M4 Pro variant may follow in October.
