Haptic feedback and new gestures coming to new Apple Pencil, reports Gurman

The next Apple Pencil, which is rumored to be unveiled next month at Apple’s “Let Loose” special event on May 7, is slated to feature haptic feedback and new gestures for the first time, according to Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman.

In his weekly Power On newsletter on Sunday, Gurman suggests that Apple will announce the M4 chip at next month’s showcase, launching the chip with the updated 2024 iPad Pro, which will be accompanied by the launch of a next-generation Apple Pencil, which will offer users haptic feedback plus new gestures for using the stylus on iPad.

Asides from the small tidbit on new gestures and the addition of haptic feedback, Gurman didn’t share any further details about the new Apple Pencil. However, as previously reported, the accessory is slated to launch alongside a new Magic Keyboard, which has been claimed to have a larger, more Mac-like trackpad with an all aluminum structure.

Scheduled to be held online, the “Let Loose” special event will commence at 7 a.m. PT/10 a.m. ET.
