Apple Vision Pro launching in China ‘later this year,’ says Tim Cook
Apple CEO Tim Cook has confirmed that Apple Vision Pro will launch in China “later this year.”
As reported by Reuters, Apple Vision Pro will hit the mainland China market this year, with Cook allegedly confirming the plans in response to a media question on the sidelines of the China Development Forum in Beijing, with Cook also saying that Apple will continue to ramp up research and development investment in China.
Apple introduced Apple Vision Pro last year, made from a single piece of three-dimensionally shaped laminated glass with an aluminum alloy frame that contours to the user’s face, the device boasts an array of advanced cameras and sensors. These components collaborate to deliver an immersive mixed-reality experience, enhanced by speakers strategically positioned near the user’s ears to provide Spatial Audio, resulting in lifelike three-dimensional environments.
Currently, Apple Vision Pro is only available in the US. However, reliable analyst Ming-Chi Kuo recently claimed that Apple could launch its mixed-reality Apple Vision Pro headset on an international scale prior to WWDC, saying at the time that Apple was adapting algorithms to comply with various countries’ regulations before releasing the device outside of the US.
Separately, a report from IT Home citing Wall Street News, claimed recently that Apple’s international expansion of Apple Vision Pro could see the wearable launch in China “as early as April [but] no later than May,” although the device may need to be renamed to comply with an existing Chinese trademark for the “Vision Pro.”
