Secondary overhead strap for $3,499 Apple Vision Pro headset could be sold separately

Apple unveiled its long-rumored Apple Vision Pro mixed-reality headset at WWDC23 earlier this month, made from a singular piece of three-dimensionally formed laminated glass with an aluminum alloy frame, featuring a stretchable 3D knitted fabric headband that goes around the user’s head behind their ears to seal-out light and to secure the headset to a user’s face.
During the unavailing of Apple Vision Pro, and in all of Apple’s subsequent marketing, only one headband is advertised for the device, however, it appears that a secondary overhead strap will also be available for the device, which could be sold separately.
Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman said in his weekly Power On newsletter on Sunday that “To address the weight issue, Apple has developed a second strap that goes over a wearer’s head. But the company is considering selling that strap as an extra accessory rather than including it in the box.”

Some early testers of the new headset have described it as “front-heavy,” with the new strap designed to counteract the force.
Apple’s new Vision Pro mixed-reality headset blends digital content with the physical world through a fully three-dimensional user interface controlled by a user’s eyes, hands, and voice.
