Alleged leak claims to reveal upcoming iPhone 14 colors, including new purple iPhone 14 Pro

A post on Chinese social media site Weibo is claiming to reveal all the colors for Apple’s full iPhone 14 and iPhone 14 Pro lineup, alleging that Apple will drop the pink and the recently introduced green finishes rom the iPhone lineup this year in favor of the return of a purple iPhone, as well as the launch of Apple’s first purple “Pro” model.

The post, via MacRumors, comes from a source without an established track record. The leak, which has since been deleted, claimed Apple would introduce the iPhone 14 and new larger “iPhone 14 Max” in black, white, blue, red, and purple, with the ‌iPhone 14 Pro‌ and ‌iPhone 14 Pro‌ Max launching with graphite, gold, silver, and purple finishes, dropping the iPhone 13 Pro’s sierra blue and new alpine green options.

Apple’s last purple-colored iPhone came with the launch of the mid-cycle purple iPhone 13 last year. At the time, rumors claimed that the purple color option may have had something to do with the late Apple co-founder Steve Jobs, noting how because 2021 marked 10 years since Jobs’ passed away in October 2011, Apple may have released the new finish as a tribute to Jobs’, who’s favorite color was reportedly purple, and how “Project Purple” was the internal codename for Apple’s first iPhone which, of course, Jobs’ lead development of.

Apple is widely rumored to be dropping the 5.4-inch ‘mini’ iPhone from its lineup this year, replacing the model with a large 6.7-inch non-Pro iPhone for the first time.

Last month we saw alleged real-world iPhone 14 display panels leak online, showing the rumored pill-shape and circular display cutouts, which will replace the traditional notch to house the front-facing camera and Face ID system on this year’s new iPhone models.

In March we saw alleged iPhone 14 Pro 3D CAD renders leak that showed the device’s rumored new pill-shape and circular display cutouts that are expected to house the iPhone’s Face ID components and front-facing camera module, removing the rectangular notch from the top of the device’s display.

We then saw later that same month rumored iPhone 14 CAD renders appear online which suggested the new pill-shape and circular display cutouts seen in the earlier leak out remain exclusive to the high-end ‘Pro’ and ‘Pro Max’ models, with the overall physical design expected to remain very similar to the existing iPhone 13 and iPhone 13 Pro.
