Leak shows alleged iPhone 14 Pro display panels with rumored pill-shape and circular display cutouts

An image showing display panels allegedly for the iPhone 14 and iPhone 14 Pro has been shared on Chinese microblogging website Weibo, claiming to offer our first real-world look at the iPhone 14 Pro and iPhone 14 Pro Max’s rumored pill-shape and circular display cutouts, which will replace the traditional notch to house the front-facing camera and Face ID system on this year’s new iPhone models.
Shared on Twitter by @SaranByte, the 6.1-inch and 6.7-inch panels for the iPhone 14 Pro and iPhone 14 Pro Max have thinner bezels compared to the iPhone 13 Pro and iPhone 13 Pro Max, as well as a taller aspect ratio, as previously reported by 9to5Mac.
In March we saw alleged iPhone 14 Pro 3D CAD renders leak that showed the device’s rumored new pill-shape and circular display cutouts that are expected to house the iPhone’s Face ID components and front-facing camera module, removing the rectangular notch from the top of the device’s display.
iPhone 14 front panels have leaked on Weibo – here are the changes to note:
1) thinner bezels on the Pro models, as reported by other sources
2) aspect ratio is also slightly different on the Pros (19.5:9 to 20:9); this corroborates with 9to5Mac’s report regarding taller displays pic.twitter.com/UtqNcBB9aP— Saran (@SaranByte) April 28, 2022
We then saw later that same month rumored iPhone 14 CAD renders appear online which suggested the new pill-shape and circular display cutouts seen in the earlier leak out remain exclusive to the high-end ‘Pro’ and ‘Pro Max’ models, with the overall physical design expected to remain very similar to the existing iPhone 13 and iPhone 13 Pro.
The leaked display panel image from Weibo seemingly confirms previous rumors surrounding the discontinuation of the 5.4-inch ‘mini’ iPhone this year.
Three out of the four new devices that are expected to be released in September will keep the same sizes as they are available in now, with Apple killing off the 5.4-inch iPhone in today’s iPhone 13 lineup and replacing it with a new ‘iPhone 14 Max,’ offering customers the large 6.7-inch display previously found exclusive on the high-end ‘Pro Max’ models.
