Respected industry analyst Ming-Chi Kuo has shared his predictions for Apple’s upcoming desktop products, saying he expects Apple to launch a more powerful Mac mini and new 27-inch external display this year, with a new iMac Pro and Mac Pro coming in 2023.

Kuo’s tweet comes ahead of Apple’s highly-anticipated ‘Peek performance’ special event on Tuesday, where it is believed the iPhone maker will unveil a new Mac mini with an M1 Pro or M2 chip, as well as (at least) preview its rumored new external display, which Bloomberg reporter Mark Gurman suggested may be shown off next week after being completed “months ago.”

The new 2022 Mac mini is expected to get a full redesign, with leaker Jon Prosser suggesting last year that the new machine would feature a “plexiglass-like” top and aluminium enclosure, showing concepts that were said to have been made based on leaked schematics that offered a look at the new machine.

Kuo’s comments follow after a report on Friday claimed to have knowledge about a new “Apple Studio Display” with a 7K resolution, offering a higher resolution than Apple’s current Pro Display XDR, blurring the lines on whether the new arrival will be a replacement for the high-end Pro Display XDR or a new addition to join Apple’s standalone display lineup.
