Apple suppliers will begin mass production of a redesign MacBook Air with a new M-series Apple silicon processor during the third quarter of 2022, according to industry analyst Ming-Chi Kuo.
In a research note to investors on Monday, Kuo pushes back his previous predictions for when the new machine will launch, saying that he now expects Apple to begin mass production of a new a mini LED-equipped MacBook Air either in late Q2 or early Q3, backing up previous rumors that the machine may be available in several new colors.
Kuo forecasts that Apple will reduce M-series MacBook production numbers by around 15% in the first half of next year due to component shortages, noting however that MacBook Air shipments in 2022 are expected to top 8 million, up from the projection of 5-6 million units this year.
Leaker Jon Prosser has previously shared concept images that he says are based on images given to him by an insider, suggesting the new machine will be available in several colorful new finishes with a white keyboard, off-white bezels, two USB-C ports, and more.
