Some customers begin receiving AirTag pre-orders early

Ahead of the official release of AirTag on Friday, some lucky customers in the US have started to receive their orders two days ahead of schedule, with 9to5Mac sharing images from one Best Buy customer who received their AirTag 4-pack on Wednesday.

So far it looks like at least two customers who ordered their AirTags from Best Buy received their shipments on Wednesday, with MacRumors also sharing images from one of their readers who similarly received their AirTags ahead of time.

Apple usually requires its delivery services, including those used by third-party retailers such as Best Buy, to hold shipments until launch day, meaning customers around the world who pre-ordered for launch day delivery receive their orders all on the same day, both in-store and online.

Not all customers who ordered their AirTags through Best Buy have received their orders early though, with the premature deliveries looking like a mistake on the courier’s side.

Apple announced the new iPhone and AirTags last Tuesday at its “Spring Loaded” special event, which also saw the introduction of an all-new iMac, updated iPad Pro, and next-generation Apple TV, which will be available to pre-order this Friday before releasing officially in the second half of May.

Sold individually at $29 or in a pack of four for $99, AirTags are Apple’s new tracking accessory that integrates with the Find My app to allow users to track items such as handbags, keys, backpacks, or other items from their iPhone.

Along with the AirTags, Apple has introduced a range of new accessories, including exclusive loops and luggage tags from French designer label Hermès.
